Introduction
In project of applied geotechnical engineering it is necessary to know the shearing characteristics of the soil in place. In some cases, it is not possible to recover intact samples, maintaining their representative mechanical properties and analyzing them in the laboratory. It is, therefore, necessary to carry out tests in situ to determine the mechanical characteristics of soil that are essential to project design. This article reports a practical case study on alluvial sediments with a coarse gravel sandy texture. For its appropriate analysis a large in situ direct shear test has been designed and performed. This technique identified the presence of a weak soil cementation by natural calcite and its important effect on geotechnical soil failure behavior. Moreover, the test stated the unusual shear characteristics for a granular soil-structure of alluvial origin, and the proper cohesion and friction angle values (C=36.9 kPa; ϕ= 52°) to consider in the project

Introduction

One can feel challenged in this chilling time when sundry variations of ultra-nationalism have become quite discernable in the USA, Europe, the Middle East, and parts of Africa. They have often taken the form of a rhetoric of fear and hatred toward “undesirables.” In this time of trouble in an increasingly nuclearized world, it is well to turn to Erik Erikson. His related concepts of “negative identity” and “pseudospeciation” need to be addressed more fully than they have in recent decades. Much is to be gained by both academic discussion and public debate over these two Erikson concepts. They signal elements in his “Way of Looking at Things.” More immediately, they help us address the crude and dangerous ultra-nationalisms of our time. Sensitive to the intimate relationship between the inner self and the outer social circumstances, Erikson, began in the mid and late 1940s to shape his most central concept - identity formation. It is well to refresh ourselves on the qualities he assigned to identity, for without that recall, one can hardly come to grips with his concepts of “universal Specieshood” and “pseudospeciation”, both of which emerged from it. In Childhood and Society [1], perhaps his most innovative book, Erikson displayed a marked cross-cultural perspective, comparing psychological development in several countries and cultures. While “officially” pledging fealty to Freudian psychoanalysis, Erikson was more attentive than Freud had been to ways the social circumstances of a society impacted the inner psyches of its members

Introduction
A recent Saudi study [1] showed that TBI is the most common pediatric trauma and could be linked with harmful consequences. Deficits in the ability to evaluate emotional information are implicated in TBI. Researchers indicate that lasting emotion recognition deficits are common among adolescents who have suffered TBI [2]. Although adolescents who have TBI are generally discharged following rehabilitation hospitalization, some adolescents need additional rehabilitation interventions in the post-injury period, including outpatient services [3]. Studies showed that more than half of TBI adolescents are at risk of presenting with emotion recognition difficulties.

Preschoolers and elementary school students were mostly affected by TBI consequences in Saudi Arabia [1]. Survivors of adolescents TBI commonly result in emotional, behavioral and cognitive deficits [2]. However, emotion recognition deficits following TBI become obvious at age of adolescent hood and above [4]. Parents rate behavior disturbance and emotion changes as the most difficult and persistent problem following TBI. Emotion recognition requires the quick processing of motivations and emotional reactions of others. Essential emotional stimuli are conveyed by facial and eye expression [5]. Assessing adolescent’s abilities to understand emotion from facial expressions indicates that such skills are subject to developmental improvement mainly among adolescents with TBI

Introduction
Chemotherapy is one of the most commonly employed cancer treatments since its use provides a strong evidence for disease-free survival as well as overall survival for several cancer types. This type of treatment is associated with detrimental side effects that are difficult to tolerate and that impact the quality of life (QOL) of patients on different levels. As more patients undergo adjuvant chemotherapy, there has been a growing interest in investigating its impact on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). To our knowledge, most published literature focuses on HRQOL at specific time points during chemotherapy and only limited data describes the dynamics of HRQOL starting before treatment, during the complete duration and after completion of chemotherapy.

Objective: The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of adjuvant chemotherapy on a patient’s quality of life before the start, half-way through, at the end and 3 months after the end of chemotherapy and to examine whether individual differences in quality of life among adjuvant chemotherapy patients could be accounted for by selected demographic and medical characteristics

Thus, it is necessary to study the food habit and nutritional status of the aged persons. Besides conceptual study, this paper highlights the impact of food science and nutrition on aging and age-associated diseases in general and in Old Aged Homes in Purulia, India.

Abstract
For a long time since the Industrial revolution in the late 17th century, mining has been one the most influential factors that has shaped our modern cities and at one time, even the transport network in many nations was influenced by the consideration of how bulk mining material had to be moved around. In Africa many cities thrived because of being the centre of mining activities or at least being indirectly involved as financial centres that transacted on behalf of mine settlements. In many cases social functions such as sports, education and entertainment, their thriving was closely linked to the fortunes of the mines. What does the future hold as high value ore gets less accessible and on the other hand, fluctuating market conditions continue to weigh heavily against industries that require dip pocket investment with long term goals where gears cannot be easily shifted to respond to quick changes. This scenario also impacts student career in this industry.
