Utilization of the Mangrove Forest for Sustainable Renewable Energy Production_ Crimson Publishers

Utilization of the Mangrove Forest for Sustainable Renewable Energy Production by Tubo-Ovarian Abscess: A Literature Review by Aroloye O Numbere* in Progress in Petrochemical Science_ International Journal of Petrochemical Science

Abstract

The tropics are generally evergreen and have large tree populations that make up the bulk of plant biomass. The Niger Delta is rich in biodiversity and has the largest mangrove system in Africa and the Atlantic. Above ground biomass (ABG) is a good indicator of stand productivity in mangroves, and can be calculated with allometric method using tree structural characteristics of dbh and tree height. Red mangroves are the most dominant species, and the species mostly used for making firewood and charcoal. The carbon stock estimates was higher in locations with more red mangrove trees (66.1 ± 15.1 Mgha-1) than locations with fewer red mangrove trees (36.0 ± 12.8 Mgha-1), which indicates that they are excellent carbon sequesters. Mangrove forest therefore supplies low cost renewable energy and also reduces global warming through carbon sequestration. Already, utilization of firewood and charcoal for cooking is a booming business in many communities in the Niger Delta. But the issue is that deriving sustainable energy from mangrove forest requires modern technology. Energy production from mangrove raw material will reduce the burden of energy generation from petroleum. This will thus, save the environment from pollution from oil and gas exploration which has led to ozone layer depletion. Nonetheless, mangrove-derived biomass energy will thus save the environment from sulphur and radioactive contamination

Bortezomib-Induced Blepharitis: A Case Report_ Crimson Publishers

Bortezomib-Induced Blepharitis: A Case Report by Kamal AlZahran* in Surgical Medicine Open Access Journal_ Surgical Medicine Open Access Journal

Abstract
Multiple myeloma is characterized by a neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells in the bone marrow producing a monoclonal immunoglobulin and resulting in extensive skeletal destruction. One of the used treatment regimens for MM being the VCD protocol (Velcade® or Bortezomib, Cyclophosphamide and Dexamethasone) [1,2]. Bortezomib is a proteasome inhibitor that acts by disrupting the cell cycle and inducing apoptosis, usually tolerated in the outpatient settings with manageable toxicities, the most common ones being peripheral neuropathy and thrombocytopenia [1,2]. Blepharitis is an inflammatory condition of the eyelid margin causing ocular and visual discomfort leading to formation of chalazia (lipogranulomatous lesions) [3,4]. It is classified as anterior blepharitis when it involves the eyelid skin and the follicules and posterior when it involves the Meibomian glands; it is usually associated with staphylococcus aureus colonization, infestation with parasites, Meibomian gland dysfunction, rosacea, systemic use of docetaxel [3,4]. Bortezomib has been associated with ocular complications but it has not been well characterized. We herein present a case of Bortezomib-induced blepharitis that has been successfully treated

Pseudoaneurysm of the Uterine Artery After Abdominal Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy Caused by Tubo-Ovarian Abscess: A Literature Review_ Crimson Publishers

Pseudoaneurysm of the Uterine Artery After Abdominal Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy Caused by Tubo-Ovarian Abscess: A Literature Review by Hye JD* in Investigations in Gynecology Research & Womens Health_ Gynecology Open Access Journals

Abstract

Uterine artery pseudoaneurysms (UAPs) are rare vascular lesions and may be life threatening if not diagnosed and properly treated. Tubo-ovarian abscess (TOA) represents an end stage process of pelvic inflammatory disease and the definitive therapy is surgery. We describe the case of a woman with a UAP after abdominal bilateral sapling-oophorectomy caused by a TOA. Six days later, she presented with sharp abdominal pain, and a Jackson-Pratt drain was filled with 70cc per hour. Selective uterine artery angiography demonstrated a UAP, and embolization was performed successfully. And we reviewed 10 cases of pseudoaneurysm after a gynecological operation, especially the first symptoms and diagnosis methods. In conclusion, UAP suspicion is required in the event of first symptoms such as vaginal spotting, abdominal discomfort/pain, fever, dizziness, etc. And, if it is suspected even slightly, an imaging works up should be conducted in a timely manner to quickly achieve diagnosis and treatment

Segments and Gaps in Tide Gauge Records_ Crimson Publishers

Segments and Gaps in Tide Gauge Records by Nils Axel Morner* in Examines in Marine Biology & Oceanography_ Journal of Marine Biology

Abstract
The tide-gauge stations all over the globe frequently include gaps, earthquake deformations of reference level, damages of stations and re-locations of sites. In meaningful reconstruction of past sea level change all such structures must be handled with great care. In the original databases of PSMSL and NOAA they are ignored, invalidating meaningful long-term mean trend analyses

The word “segment” in sea level analyses has been differently used. Mörner [1-3] used it to denote segments of sea level changes that had to be characterized individually-in contrast to linear trends ignoring the observational records. Because tide gauges in Mumbai and in Visakhapatnam located on opposed sites of the Deccan Plateau record the same four-parted segments, I interpreted these segments as records of eustatic changes (Figure 1). Parker [4,5], on the other hand, used segmentation to denote interruptions and gaps in the tide-gauge recording

Biotechnology and Its Simultaneous Evolution_ Crimson Publishers

Biotechnology and Its Simultaneous Evolution by Leonardo Brantes Bacellar Mendes* in Cohesive Journal of Microbiology & Infectious Disease_ Journal of Microbiology

Abstract
Biotechnology is currently developing across borders rapidly and simultaneously. New equipment is continuously developed and refined to improve production processes and quality control associated with obtaining the most diverse bioproducts such as biosurfactants, natural dyes, antioxidants and antibiotics. There is no industrial biotechnological process that works generically and each requires particular solutions that can sustain a good scale up from scientific and technological points of view.

State-of-the-art centrifuges and decanters "taylor made" with high commercial value have a prominent place in unit operations for the separation of micro-organisms of interest or the culture medium containing bioproducts or only for clarification of the final product as in the industrial procurement of wine

The Many Paradoxes of Control_ Crimson Publishers

The Many Paradoxes of Control by Cusack Torill Christine Lindstrom* in Psychology and Psychotherapy: Research Studys_ Journal of Psychology and Psychotherapy

Abstract
The word control has several meanings, direct, as well as indirect. It connotes even opposite phenomena. When I interviewed people about their associations to ‘control’, these are some of the first elements that came up: Safety. Control means that somebody takes care of everybody else’s safety. Airplanes are constantly controlled, and so are the passengers, so that accidents and terrorist attack are avoided. Next was: Coercion. The passenger-controls that provide safety also imply a sometimes embarrassing opening of bags and body search. To be a person in charge of control, particularly in difficult and challenging situations, means to have positive positions of power, but also a position with severe responsibilities. To be controlled, can be humiliating and intimidating. That one spouse exerts control over the other, is generally regarded as negative, but for parents to have control over their little children is regarded as positive and responsible

Assessment of Endometrial Receptivity Assay (ERA) Test as a Diagnostic Tool and its Outcome in Patients with Previous IVF Failure_ Crimson Publishers

Assessment of Endometrial Receptivity Assay (ERA) Test as a Diagnostic Tool and its Outcome in Patients with Previous IVF Failure by Cusack Smitha M* in Perceptions in Reproductive Medicine_ Journal of Reproductive Health

Abstract
Human implantation is a complex process requiring synchrony between a healthy embryo and a functionally competent or receptive endometrium. Diagnosis of endometrial receptivity (ER) has posed a challenge and so far, the most available tests have been subjective and lack accuracy and a predictive value. Microarray technology has allowed identification of the transcriptomic signature of the receptivity window of implantation (WOI). This technology has led to the development of a molecular diagnostic tool, the ER array (ERA) for diagnosis of ER. Use of this test in patients with recurrent implantation failure (RIF) has shown that the WOI is displaced in a most of these patients and the use of a personalized embryo transfer (pET) on the day designated by ERA improves reproductive performance. In this retrospective study, 74 patients with history of recurrent implantation failures who underwent Endometrial Receptivity Assay in ARC fertility centre, Saveetha medical college over a period of one year were analysed and 44 patients were receptive and 30 non receptive. Out of those 44 receptive patients 37(84.1%) were positive for clinical pregnancy and 7(23.3%) patients were negative for clinical pregnancy after performing pET. Among 30 of the non-receptive patients 7(15.9%) were found positive for clinical pregnancy and 23(76.7%) were found negative for clinical pregnancy. The p value was <0.001 which is statistically significant. Hence this study proves that doing ERA and performing Personal of clinical pregnancy rate and its outcome. Though larger studies are required to validate these results ERA has become a useful tool in our diagnostic armamentarium for ER
